Pocket Little League simply can’t function without volunteers. We need you for a variety of roles.
Each family (with some exceptions) will be required to make a volunteer deposit when registering to kick off the season.
The volunteer deposit is $175 per player. Pocket Little League requires 10 hours of volunteer service for each player. Families with 2 or more players registered are required to complete 20 hours total of volunteer service.
**A minimum of 1 snack shack shift is required as part of your 10 volunteer hours.

***Board Members, Team Managers and Team Coaches are the only positions that will fulfill your volunteer commitment, including one snack shack shift, regardless of the number of children you have playing for the league***
The Team Parent is responsible for keeping track of volunteer hours for each player and reporting hours to the Volunteer Coordinator. Full volunteer deposit will be returned if all 10 hours of volunteer service (including a snack shack shift) are completed. Volunteer tracking form must be turned into the Volunteer Coordinator by Closing Day (last games of regular season).

Families are required to complete 10 hours of volunteer service per player. The 10 hours must include at least one snack shack shift.
Families with 2 or more players registered are required to complete 20 hours total. The 20 hours must include at least two snack shack shifts.
Yes! Anyone age 16 and over can work in the snack shack, however, there cannot be more than 2 people under the age of 18 working in the snack shack at any one time. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the snack shack at any time.
There are many options to fulfill your volunteer commitment: team parent, pre-season field prep days, field prep and clean up, pitch count/score keeping, snack shack shifts, tournament assistance, PLL Dinner, sponsorship, family fun day, Board of Directors, coaching, etc.
Each family is responsible for reporting any hours worked (activity, day, and time/hours worked) to their Team Parent. The Team Parent is responsible for tracking all hours and submitting them to the Volunteer/Team Parent Coordinator at the end of the season.
Each of the field activities satisfies 4 volunteer hours- 4 for the field-prep family and 4 for the field clean-up family. If you volunteered for field-prep, you prep the field for all your team’s home games, and field clean-up is done by the visiting team. The 10 hours of volunteer service must include a snack shack shift. The following are examples of correctly completed volunteer hours:

One manager and two coaches are assigned to each team (3 asst coaches for Tball and Single A divisions). Individuals interested in coaching must successfully complete background checks, finger printing, and training annually before they will be allowed to manage or coach a team. All manager and coaching appointments expire annually and there is no seniority or tenure when being considered for a manager or coaching position. Pocket Little League is affiliated with the national Little League organization, and follows all rules and regulations set forward by that body. Managers and coaches will each receive a copy of the official Little League rule book and must use it to teach the children proper league rules and play.
Managers and coaches are expected to treat all players with respect and to observe the rules of conduct set forth by Little League. They should set a good example for their players, other managers and coaches, and the spectators.
Umpires are essential to our organization. Umpiring is a great way to both enjoy baseball and to work off your volunteer hours.
Pocket Little League trains all volunteer umpires. We have had NCOA rules and mechanics training as well as guest instructors from the national Little League organization.
Umpires are expected to treat all players with respect and to observe the rules of conduct set forth by Little League. They should set a good example for the players, managers, coaches and spectators.
The main objective of the Pocket Little League Snack Shack is to give players an opportunity to be rewarded with a meal, drink or treat regardless of the outcome of their baseball game. This way everyone can go home a winner. It is also a league fundraiser — but prices are kept as low as possible to try to keep it affordable for even the littlest players.
Anyone 16 or older can work a shift and satisfy family commitment hours. There can only be one (1) person under the age of 18 at any time and at least two (2) persons age 18 or older at all times. This includes parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings or friends. This is also a great way for teenagers to get community service hours for clubs and college applications!
For safety reasons: If you are working a shift, please make arrangements for your children during this time. Children are NOT permitted in the snack shack.
The snack shack at Conlin will need 3 volunteers per shift on weekdays. Saturday events may need 4-5 volunteers per shift. Please arrive on time for your shift. Volunteers will be given a brief lesson on their job responsibilities. The shack usually closes 20-30 minutes after the last game ends. Games can end earlier or run longer than expected so shift end time is an estimate.
One volunteer will cook hot dogs and hamburgers on the barbecue outside while remaining volunteers will work in the shack serving drinks, snacks, and treats. Volunteers will also make change, restock items and cleanup at the end of day, including emptying snack shack trash cans into the dumpster. Ensure that the dumpster is locked upon completion.
To sign up for a snack shack shift during the season, please find an open shift on the SignUp Genius. Here you can reserve an open shift, or a shift assigned to your team during one of your scheduled games. Please do not sign up for another team’s shift unless it is less than 24 hours before the shift, and it still has not been filled.
