Fall Ball Registration Now Open!

Missing baseball already? You’re in luck! 2019 Fall Ball online registration is NOW OPEN for Pocket Little League sluggers of all ages!

PLL Fall Ball is a non-competitive, instructional season, which runs from September through the end of October. The instructional nature of PLL’s Fall Ball program allows players to gain experience at all positions, without the stress of high-level competition and seasonal standings. This valuable experience is hard to replicate in any other league setting. It’s also a great opportunity for kids to play games in higher divisions, as they prepare to move up next Spring. Fall Ball is more laid back than Spring Season, with a focus on developing and honing skills for those moving up, as well as for those returning to the same division.

Fall Ball will begin the first week of September. The registration fee ($50 for T-ball & Minor A divisions, or $65 for Minor AA and above) includes Fall Ball hat and shirt. Games and clinics will be held on Sundays, with optional practices held once a week per division (T-ball through Majors). Pick your child’s division based on the Little League age chart for the 2020 season. Registration for Fall Ball is online only and closes on September 4th, so follow the link and sign up today!

Sacramento River Cats Day Sunday April 7th!

Pocket Little League’s annual Sacramento River Cats Day is Sunday, April 7th. The River Cats will face off against the Tacoma Rainiers at 1:05 p.m. with some proceeds from the event going towards Pocket Little League! This is one event you won’t want to miss, as all of our little sluggers will be welcomed onto the field for a pregame parade!

Tickets are on sale now at group rate prices. Come on out and relax on the Toyota Home Run Hill grass for just $12 per ticket.

Gates open at 11:00 a.m. with a motivational “Chalk Talk” at 11:15 a.m. and the famous pre-game parade on the field starting at 12:10 p.m.!

Players should wear their jerseys and hats to represent Pocket Little League in the parade.

Fundraising Dinner Sunday March 31st at Urban Roots!

We would like to invite all parents, family, and friends of Pocket Little League to come on out and join us Sunday, March 31st at 5:00 p.m. for our annual Fundraising Dinner to help raise money to support our teams! This will be a fun night for the adults to get together and have a great time away from the baseball fields at an awesome local venue – Urban Roots Brewing & Smokehouse. And the best part? Proceeds from the fundraiser go towards baseball equipment, field maintenance, and improvements for Pocket Little League!

Tickets are $25 pre-sale or $30 at the door. Order your tickets online through eventbrite, or turn in your pre-sale order form to your Team Parent by March 29th to get discounted rates for larger groups, raffle tickets, and desserts.

Sign Up Online for Snack Shack Shifts!

Once again this year, all Snack Shack shift sign ups will be available online via SignUpGenius.

Parents and family members may sign up below their own team’s open slot anytime. If another team still has an opening 24 hours prior to the game, that slot is available for anyone to take.

A few things to remember about SignUpGenius and the Snack Shack in general:

  • Sign up with the volunteer’s name, your child’s division, team name, and last name.
  • Students age 16-18 years old may work a shift on behalf of your family, however we cannot have more than two students under 18 work at the same time.
  • Please arrive on time and ready to work your shift – reminders will be sent out two days prior to each shift you sign up for.
  • Don’t forget to enter your time in and time out in the binder kept in the Snack Shack. This is our tracking log for all of your volunteer hours in the Snack Shack!
  • Each shift is 2 1/2 hours, however if you are “closing” please stay until the last game ends to allow players to purchase their treats from the shack.
  • Sign up for as many shifts as you want, there is no limit!

Upcoming Training Sessions for Snack Shack Volunteers!

Volunteers are the engine that powers Pocket Little League. The time and energy each family commits to helping run our league makes all the difference to a successful and enjoyable season for our kids. The Snack Shack at Conlin Fields is one of our most important resources, providing our kids a highly anticipated post-game treat and quick dinner options for baseball families on the go!

Based on your feedback, this year PLL will be providing three Snack Shack training sessions on two separate dates, so everyone who volunteers is on the same page and the Snack Shack runs smooth for everyone, especially with some of the new features we’re implementing this season. The training is not mandatory, but we think it’ll be helpful for new volunteers, as well as our seasoned veterans!

Sessions will be held at the Conlin Fields Snack Shack on the following dates and times

Saturday, Feb. 23rd from 12:00-1:00 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 23rd from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 2nd from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Pocket Little League Skills Assessment Days are your slugger’s chance to show off his or her skills and meet players and coaches from around the neighborhood. It’s the first event on the baseball field for the Spring season and should get everybody excited for baseball season to start!

Skills Assessments will be held at Conlin Fields. Check-in begins at the Snack Shack 30 minutes prior to start time for each division. All Minor/Major/Junior division players are required to attend one Skills Assessment. T-ball division does not participate in Skills Assessment.

Dates and times are as follows:

Saturday, January 12th

Majors Division (11-12 years old): 9:00-10:30 a.m. (check-in 8:30 a.m.)

AAA Division (9-10 years old): 11:00-12:30 p.m. (check-in at 10:30 a.m.)

AA Division (7-8 years old): 1:00-2:30 p.m. (check-in at 12:30 p.m.)

A Division (6-7 years old): 2:30-4:00 p.m. (check-in at 2:00 p.m.)

PLL Donates to Paradise LL Camp Fire Relief Fund

PLL Donates to Paradise LL Camp Fire Relief Fund

As we all know, the recent Camp Fire ravished the town of Paradise and surrounding areas. Many in our community have already reached out with thoughts, prayers, and donations to the families who have suffered through this horrific disaster. The people and leaders of Paradise have vowed to rebuild their town, and as members of Pocket Little League we know one of the most vital pieces of a community is youth sports.

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, a GoFundMe page has been created to raise $10,000 for Paradise Little League. On behalf of Pocket Little League, our Board of Directors has voted unanimously to donate $500 to help the league get back on its feet, so their kids can maybe get some sense of normalcy and fun back in their lives through baseball.

Everyone loves Chipotle, but there’s only one thing that could possibly make their food taste even more delicious … When part of the proceeds from your dinner at Chipotle go to Pocket Little League, of course!

That’s right, PLL is excited to team up with Chipotle to provide much needed funding for youth baseball in Sacramento and we want our whole community to turn out and support Pocket Little League!

Monday, December 17th from 5:00-9:00 p.m. bring this flyer, or show it to the cashier on your smartphone, at the Delta Shores Chipotle location and 33% of the proceeds will be donated directly to Pocket Little League! Online orders will not be included, so please be sure to order in person and show the flyer.
